Enfield District Scout Band Represented in Two Massed Bands

Members of the Enfield District Scout Band, from Greater London North, will be representing Scouting in not one, but two massed bands in the Lord Mayor's Show in the City of London on the 8th of November. A massed Youth Band representing the Jack Petchey Foundation. And a massed Scout Association band, made up of members of six Scout Bands from around the country.

Being in two bands means a lot of practise. The Jack Petchey Foundation Youth Band, who are all between 11 and 18, will be staying at a new Jack Petchey funded building at Gilwell Park for a residential weekend. Not just Scouts and Guides, but quite a few other youth organisations are involved. The Jack Petchey Band is being trained by a former Guards Sergeant Major, and thus are being worked very hard!

Enfield District Scout Band members, who are outside the age limits for the Jack Petchey Band, will go to make up the Scout Association massed band and will be travelling to a couple of practices in Leicester, which is a central meeting point as some of the Scout Bands involved are from as far north as Yorkshire. Enfield District will be the only London involvement in this massed band.

There are some other Scout bands already involved in the Lord Mayor's Show, also from the London Region, including Kingston & Malden Scout & Guide Band, and the 1st Hook Scout & Guide Band. These bands take part in their own right in the Show.
